Luminato is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers to assist in a variety of roles. Our diverse group of volunteers enhances the visitor experience by providing guests of the Festival with information, lending onsite support, and working with the Luminato staff. Volunteering at Luminato also provides many rewards: a unique way to engage with programming and events, a complimentary 2012 Festival T-shirt and other giveaways, access to last-minute ticket offers, and the chance to make a difference in our visitors’ lives.

If you would like to be considered for a volunteer position for the 2012 Luminato Festival (June 8—17, 2012), the first step is to register online. We’ve also provided additional information on volunteer roles below to help you better understand the Luminato volunteer experience. We hope you will join us as a volunteer in 2012!

Ambassadors

Ambassadors act as friendly facilitators of information and assistance during the Festival at venues and Festival sites. Roles include greeting guests at performances and events, answering questions, and providing general information on festival activities. Interested volunteers will be required to attend one training session at the end of May/beginning of June.

Street Promo Ambassadors

Now in its second year, the Street Promo Ambassadors will work in conjunction with Luminato’s Marketing department to spread the word about all Luminato happenings by using social media and other promotional avenues. Attending training for this team will allow you to attend promotional events with the Marketing department before the Festival, while also picking up Ambassador shifts during the Festival itself. Interested volunteers will be required to attend one interview in mid-April and one training session at the beginning of May.

Team Leaders

Team Leaders work closely with the Luminato Volunteer Department to create an organized and fun volunteer experience. By supervising Ambassadors at the Festival Hub, Team Leaders manage large groups of volunteers and assign tasks. Interested candidates for this role will be required to attend one interview in mid-April and one training session toward the end of May.

Info Team

Info Team volunteers help Festival guests get the most out of their Luminato experience. Info Team members receive special in-depth training about Festival programming in order to provide information to Festival guests at Info Kiosks and all ticketed events. Candidates for this role will be required to attend one interview in mid-April and one training session mid-May.

Festival Administrative Volunteers

Festival Administrative Volunteers (FAVs) help with the daily operations of Luminato’s Volunteer Centre beginning at the end of May. Volunteers with excellent administrative and communication skills assist the Volunteer Department with scheduling and on-shift updates. Interested candidates for this role will be required to attend one interview in mid-April and one training session at the beginning of May.

Year Round Volunteers

While the Luminato Festival takes place over the course of 10 days, there is a lot of behind-the-scenes work that goes into planning the festival throughout the year. We are seeking volunteers with strong organizational skills and a keen eye for detail to assist our various departments such as Marketing/Media, Public Relations, Sponsorship/Development, Programming, Production and Volunteer organization. Tasks vary and volunteers will be informed of opportunities as they arise. Individuals with computer skills and web experience are most welcome!
