Vienna Academy OrchestraMartin Haselböck, director - Canadian Premiere
Under the direction of its founder, Martin Haselböck, the Orchester Wiener Akademie is the acclaimed period-instrument ensemble in residence at Vienna's prestigious Musikverein concert hall - and for this year's Luminato it supplies the orchestral component of the gripping drama The Infernal Comedy, starring John Malkovich.
On Saturday, June 12, the orchestra makes a special appearance in its own right, performing a thrilling program of symphonic masterworks by three of Vienna's best-loved classical composers: Haydn, Mozart, and Schubert. The centrepiece of the concert is Mozart's ever-popular "Great G minor Symphony" No. 40, one of only two symphonies he wrote in the minor key.
Don't miss this rare opportunity to hear one of Europe's finest early-music ensembles.
