Lipsynchdirected by Robert Lepage - North American Premiere
Fresh from critically acclaimed presentations in London, Madrid and Sydney, Robert Lepage's sensational new epic makes its Canadian debut - the must-see theatre event of the year.
"Masterful...any serious theatregoer would be well advised to try and grab a ticket!"- Richard Ouzounian, Toronto Star
To audiences and critics throughout the world, Québec's Robert Lepage is simply the most important and exciting theatrical innovator of our time. Now we bring you the Canadian premiere of his most ambitious achievement yet: a nine-hour multimedia epic that weaves together the stories of nine interconnected lives over the span of 70 years.
Themes of parenthood and adoption link those narratives, as does the overarching metaphor of the human voice. From a baby's cry to the soaring arias of opera, from speech captured by technology to the silence of those bereft of its power, our voices speak of who we are and what we feel.
And in this groundbreaking new work, co-commissioned by Luminato, Lepage complements the visual spectacle that has always been a hallmark of his staging with an equally brilliant exploration of the realm of sound.
Lipsynch is a once-in-a-lifetime theatrical journey - one that you'll be able to share and discuss with your fellow theatregoers during its intermissions and meal breaks. But remember: there are only five performances, so make sure you don't miss out on the show everyone will be talking about!
